Castles of Ice

Behind these walls,
We’ve lived with
Plenty of harshness, cold resentment—
Burning on the frosted sky, my eyes
Are frozen, fixed on something,
someone who won’t leave me
When the snow falls inside my head
Every red leaf clings to what you said
Whether or not you think you’ll love me still
You haven’t wandered through my hell
The seasons change, I don’t care why
The winter surrounds us as we die
Frigid and longing for the warmth of you
You won’t believe what I can do
Earth glitters here—
Beyond the
Suns warm rays—
In cold, in shadow
Buried in a box of ice
My heart is stiff
And stunted, hoping
for one last shot at redemption
But snow still falls inside my head
every dead leaf fell for what you said
Whether or not you think you love me too
I can not hold the weight of you
The seasons change, I don’t know why
The snowflakes get in, scratch your eyes
Frigid and longing for the warmth of you
You’ll never know what I’ve been through
The seasons change, I don’t care why
The winter will hold me while I cry
Whether or not you think you love me too
I can not hold the weight of you

The snow, it fell inside my head
every leaf still falls for what I said
Whether or not you think you love me now
Your heart is weak and I can tell...
